about the age and wear of your VHS tapes?

- Audio and
Videotape has an effective life of about 15 years under ideal
conditions

tape deterioration is happening now, it will just get worse
- CD and DVD media
has a life expectancy of over 100 years
- MPEG files can be
stored on a variety of media and easily copied and transferred
- Preserve your
memories with multiple digital copies, stored in multiple locations
- Many video tapes
are in danger of irreversible damage
- Save and share
your moments for your children and grandchildren
- DVD copies are
inexpensive, so you can make an exact duplicate copy for safe
keeping
- DVD video and
audio does not deteriorate, even after thousands of playbacks
- A digital
conversion of your media now stops any further loss of quality
- If video
streaking or sparkle effects are noticeable, the deterioration is
accelerating
PRESERVE YOUR
MEDIA:
- Preserve your
original media (video tape, movie film, or slides) for as long as it
is viable
- Some film and
video tape has already deteriorated beyond the point of preservation
- Use inexpensive
DVD COPIES for normal viewing

- In 20 years there
will be likely be a replacement for DVD

can be stored and copied on a variety of media and the Internet
- We are computer
based, and also offer your files on USB 3.0 Flash or Hard Drives
- DVD, Smart
Phones, Tablets, Flash and hard drives, and the "cloud" have
replaced audio and video tape - Like Camcorders replaced 8mm and
Super8 movies
- We convert Sony
BetaMax, Betacam SP, DVCAM, and 3/4 inch U-Matic video tapes to DVD
- If you have an
audio or video format that we haven't listed, give us a call and
let's discuss the opportunity
THE ENEMIES
OF VIDEO TAPE
ARE TIME, HUMIDITY, AND
TEMPERATURE:
- The chemical breakdown
of videotape binders or coatings has been well documented
- The
binders absorb moisture, releasing acids and alcohols that hasten deterioration
- Hydrolysis
weakens the binder causing particle shedding and dropouts
- Hydrolysis will
cause the eventual loss of the tape through severe degradation
- Humidity increases tape pack stresses
and tightness
- Tape shedding and
wound in debris cause clogging, scoring, and head wear
- Layer to Layer
adhesion and changes in dimensions cause distortion and tracking errors
- We are now seeing
mold growing on many video tapes
